What I Wore Lately Vol. 120 | Jo-Lynne Shane (2024)

Hi there! I hope you’re enjoying the holidays. Ours has been quiet and relaxing, for the most part, which is nice after such a busy season for work and our family.

Speaking of busy, it’s hard to believe that it’s already time for another edition of What I Wore Lately! This is where I round up my everyday outfits from the past couple of weeks.

SIZING NOTES: I’m 5’5″ and I usually wear a small in tops and dresses, a 29 in jeans, and a size 8 shoe. Gifted items are indicated by c/o; everything else I purchased myself.

What I Wore: Two Weeks of Everyday Outfits

I’ve been wearing this sweater a lot lately; the bright colors make me happy! I really like it paired with these bootcut jeans in a medium blue wash. This shade of denim offsets the colors in the sweaters nicely, and the taupe booties keep the look light and breezy.

I added silver jewelry, which is in keeping with the bright, cool tones of the outfit. Silver is also trending right now, which makes this girl VERY happy. I’ve always preferred silver tones in my accessories. Evidently, these earrings are TikTok famous and keep selling out… who knew? I just thought they were pretty!

These TikTok-famous earrings have definitive drip (and a go-viral kind of flair). Whether you prefer them in silver or gold, this mini pair is pure molten-magic – so grab yours before they’re gone (again!!).

These jeans are a little short for these boots, but I don’t mind this combination. I feel like it actually looks more modern than the floor-grazing look. That works with a more relaxed leg, but with bootcuts and flares, I think I like the ankle-length look better.

Later that day, once I was home for good, I switched into my UGG minis so I’d be more comfortable working from home and making dinner.

I’ve graduated from PT, but I still see my chiropractor once a week for my “mouse arm”, as I call it. Despite my attempts to change my position and get up regularly, the many hours I spend at the computer still aggravate my right arm and shoulder.

This is what I wore to one of my recent appointments, and then I came home and walked the dog.

Paul and I went to the Capital Grille for our annual Christmas lunch date on that Friday before Christmas weekend, and I wore this staticky green blouse and black pants with black suede pumps and topped it off with my black wool coat.

This blouse is so pretty, but I was annoyed with the static, and I feel like the outfit looks really plain with the blouse untucked, but I don’t like tucking a top into pants without a button and belt loops.

I just think that looks awkward and unfinished, so I want to find a pair of pants similar to these, but with the ability to wear a belt so tucking my top would look more intentional. I’m adding those to my list of things to buy to round out my winter wardrobe.

That night, we met friends for drinks at an upscale bar & grille type of joint, and I wore this all black outfit. (There was also a nap in the middle there!)

I topped it off with my faux fur jacket. I felt a little “extra” for a casual get together over drinks, but I figured, it’s the holidays! Might as well wear some of my pretty things.

I also used the opportunity to carry my olive green Loewe bag that I bought in Italy. It often seems too fussy for my everyday looks, so I try to carry it when I can, even though the other bag would have looked just fine with this outfit.

Then it was back to life… back to reality! Jeans, sweater, and sneakers for a Saturday of errands and other mundane tasks.

I wore this familiar outfit to church that Sunday… Clearly, I was not feeling very creative with my jewelry. I just kept picking up the same earrings and necklace and putting them back on again.

This was just a Monday working from home. This collared sweater is from LOFT, and I’m so bummed it sold out because I love it, and now I feel bad wearing it because you can’t buy it.

The close-to-the-body fit with the short, not-quite-cropped length is perfect with today’s wider denim silhouettes; and it’s so soft, it feels almost like cashmere.

I decided to try these bootcut jeans with sneakers, and I think it works for a casual look. These MOTHER Weekenders have a 30 1/2″ inseam, according to the Nordstrom website. I haven’t measured, but that seems about right.

I tried them with some lower profile sneakers, and they were almost dragging on the ground, but they look okay with the P448 John.

Then, this is what I wore to see Beauty & The Beast at The Walnut Street Theatre in Philly on a Tuesday night.

What I Wore Lately Vol. 120 | Jo-Lynne Shane (13)

I combined the woven sleeve v-neck pullover from my Talbots holiday post with the black velvet flares from Gap Factory, and I really like the look. I added black leather pointy toe booties and some festive jewelry.

These Kendra Scott earrings are a few years old, but I felt like they provided just the right amount of bling without being too formal.

I know people are dressing more casually for the theater these days, so I was pushing it when I added my faux fur jacket, but I figured, what the heck!? It’s Christmas!

I typically prefer not to be overdressed in social situations, but I figured in this case, I could live with it. I didn’t think I would look too terribly out of place for an evening show at Christmastime, but I was sorely mistaken.

I was shocked by how incredibly overdressed I felt in velvet pants and a faux fur jacket. So many people were in blue jeans and sneakers or casual boots, I even saw someone in flip flops… What is happening??? If you can’t dress up to go to the theater at Christmastime without looking out of place, we might as well give up as a society. LOL!

I truly do not spend a lot of time judging how people dress, but I do find it interesting to observe, mostly so I know how I want to dress to fit in, and I was truly shocked by what I saw.

Anyway! Moving on…

I wore this next look to Bible Study last week. I hear darker denim washes are coming back, and as much as I like the laid-back vibe of light wash denim, I’m ready for a change, and I feel like these are a nice transitional shade.

Also, these boots are marked waaaaay down. They’re still splurgy, even on sale, but Nordstrom Rack just reduced them an additional 25%, bringing them down to $250 from $520. They’re so, so comfortable. I wore them all over the mall yesterday. They’re perfect when you want a casual heel that’s walkable.

And then, I wore this casual neutral look to run some errands after a photo shoot last Wednesday. I had these jeans shortened, but I fear I shortened them too much. Ooops! They’re technically a “skinny jean” but not the legging ankle jeans or yore. This is the modern version of a skinny, at least, to my eye.

Rails jacket (S) (similar for less) // cashmere sweater in brown taupe – on sale! (S) // PAIGE Gemma in Black Lotus (29) // Vince sneakers (8) // Jenny Bird earrings

I wore that same Sundry fair isle sweater with light wash straight ankle jeans and sneakers to go to the high school holiday concert last week. I like how the white sneakers relate to the white in the sweater, and how the whole look is super casual yet festive.

And then I threw on the Sundry stripe sweater with the bootcut jeans and sneakers again to go get a manicure and run a few errands one day last week.

I changed into booties to meet a friend for a casual dinner that night. I wasn’t feeling up to an entire outfit change, and the quick shoe swap seemed to do the trick, although I think I prefer the taupe booties that I wore with this outfit the week before (pictured at the top of this post). They’re just a smidge dressier, due to the shape of the toe, and also the color.

This next look is another repeat outfit. I wore this last Friday to run errands, and I had a hair appointment. It was probably not the best choice of sweater to wear to get my hair colored, but fortunately nothing bad happened to it!

Nordstrom Signature cardigan – on sale (S) // Splendid tank (S) // MOTHER Dazzler in Riding The Cliffside (29) (similar for less) // LØCI sneakers (39) // Jenny Bird earrings

Then it was back into my green sweater for Christmas Eve Eve (last Saturday). I think I ran errands, I can’t really remember. I know we didn’t do much that night.

I wore this dress to church on Christmas Eve, and then out to a sushi dinner afterwards with a big group of extended family and friends. I’ve had this since a Nordstrom collab a couple months back, and finally got a chance to wear it! It was kind of rainy, so the waterproof Blondo boots came in handy.

And this is what I wore on Christmas Day. I just wanted to be comfortable, since we were home all day, but still look nice enough for pictures. This sweater is old, but I absolutely love it. I wish they’d bring it back!

Finally, yesterday Paul and I ran to the mall for a few things. This Treasure & Bond jacket is on sale, by the way! I love how it pairs with the brown taupe sweater.

And that’s a wrap!
